Historical Reflections: Wazirabad's Hindu Girls’ School

According to University of California Many of these girls, who were often converts from Hinduism to Christianity, hailed from lower castes and impoverished backgrounds as evident in the Group portrait of young indigenous girls and some of their teachers at the Hindu Girls’ School in Wazirabad.

The school was administered by the Church of Scotland Women’s Association for Foreign Missions and overseen by Isabella Plumb (1861-1944). The mission in Wazirabad was established when Mohammed Ismail (-1873) assumed control of the government school in 1863.
