Lohsar Baoli and Sarai, Wah Cantt, Taxila

While travelling on the old route of GT road from Rawalpindi to Taxila and beyond one comes across many historic buildings, Sarais and Baolis echoing the lifestyle of past. Losar Baoli is one such heritage located on old GT road in Wah Cantt: a town of Taxila tehsil of Rawalpindi district. The Losar Baoli is named after a village Loser which is located close to it. It is thought to have been constructed by the Emperor Sher Shah Suri in order to facilitate the caravans moving towards Kabul via Taxila. Losar Baoli is built of small bricks and is approximately 100 feet deep. It is approached by a staircase with landings at intervals under four-centered arches carrying battlement crestings. It is entered through an arched and domed gateway flanked by small chambers, with staircases to the roof and behind the entrance at ground level, on each side, is an oblong brick platform upon which travelers could rest. Loser Baoli has been renovated recently by Archaeological department after one of its wall fell. It is a protected site now and is part of Sher Shah Park.
